Through her work as a public speaker, science communicator and TV host as well as with her non-profit dedicated to ocean conservation, Danni is leading the way on the mission to protect our oceans.

Join me for The Ocean Race Summits around the world as we bring together the unique perspectives of sailors and the world’s key decision-makers to tackle the most pressing issues facing our seas.
Danni is the host of this series of 12 Summits, which are together building towards an ambitious goal of driving a Universal Declaration of Ocean Rights. Ocean rights can only be achieved if they are embraced at a global scale, which is why The Ocean Race is working to gather support and momentum for the concept with key decision-makers and ocean advocates.
Inspiring Today’s Youth about Ocean Conservation
Big Blue & You is a non-profit focusing on ocean conservation. As the only non-profit founded and run by African American women, BB&Y is inspiring a new and diverse generation of passionate environmentalists through the use of conservation-related science, art, and media.
Over the last 12 years, BB&Y has connected 3,000 young leaders - especially young women of color - with the resources they need to become trailblazing ocean advocates. The relentless efforts of the BB&Y team have resulted in an ever-growing list of eco-conscious communities, each working to protect and preserve our beloved oceans.
The Original Mocha Mermaid
From the age of six, Miami native Danni dreamed of uncovering the secrets of our oceans. This curiosity has been the driving force behind her inspirational work as a TV host, thought leader, public speaker, trailblazer, and more. Seeing the need for a more diverse representation of ocean advocates, Danni created Mocha Mermaid - a community of like-minded ocean warrior queens that amplify the voices of ocean-loving BIPOC communities.
Mocha Mermaid creates and sells ocean-friendly clothing and celebrates all of the BIPOC mermaids & merfolk among us.
Citizen Science: Patrol Don't Poach Campaign
All seven species of sea turtles are endangered. We are losing them at alarming rates due to rising ocean temperatures, coastal erosion, plastic pollution, fishing line casualties, and poaching.
It is difficult to quickly turn around the climate issues in the short term, but we can tackle the poaching issue. Doing so would save millions of sea turtles each year and go a long way in restoring their population.
At Latin American Sea Turtles, a 501-c3 non-profit, we work to protect Leatherbacks, Green Sea Turtles, Hawskbill, and Loggerheads. We are excited to launch a fundraising initiative that we are positive will make a big time difference - PATROL, DON'T POACH.
